Knight CM Group is seeking experienced Resident Engineers (REs) and Structure Representatives (SRs) to join our growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex transportation and public infrastructure projects throughout California, including bridge replacements, bridge rehabilitations, roadway improvements, highways, and other heavy civil construction projects.
As the owner's on-site representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract documents, project specifications, and applicable standards. You will work closely with agency staff, contractors, designers, utility companies, and other stakeholders to monitor construction activities, resolve field issues, and maintain project quality from groundbreaking through final acceptance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent the owner during all phases of construction.
- Monitor daily construction activities for compliance with plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Coordinate with contractors, design teams, utility companies, and agency staff to resolve construction issues.
- Review schedules, monitor project progress, and identify potential delays or risks.
- Prepare daily reports and maintain complete project documentation.
- Review contract changes, Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and pay estimates.
- Verify quantities, monitor project budgets, and support contract administration.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate project status to stakeholders.
- Assist with project closeout, final inspections, and punch list completion.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience serving as a Resident Engineer, Structure Representative, or Construction Inspector on public works projects.
- Experience with Caltrans, local agencies, counties, or municipal transportation projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, contract administration, and public agency procedures.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with contractors, agency staff, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Valid California driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout California.
