Tule River Viaduct CA HSR
Project Description
The Tule River Viaduct is a significant component of California's High-Speed Rail project, designed to carry trains over State Route 43, the BNSF freight line, and the Tule River in Tulare County.
Spanning 3,573 feet, the viaduct features a pergola section comprising 264 precast concrete girders placed over the existing BNSF freight line. The north and south approaches require a total of 34 precast tub girders to support two high-speed rail tracks. As of early 2024, all girders for the pergola section have been installed, with crews focusing on formwork for the upper edge beams, which provide structural support and integrate the precast girders. The next phase involves placing tub girders on the northern and southern approaches near Avenue 144 and the Tule River. Upon completion, the viaduct will facilitate the safe passage of high-speed trains over critical infrastructures in the region.
