Bridge Street Widening
Project Description
The Bridge Street Widening and Complete Streets Project in Yuba City was a transformative infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing transportation efficiency and safety between Gray Avenue and Cooper Avenue. This project expanded the existing two-lane roadway into a modern four-lane thoroughfare, incorporating a landscaped median with left-turn pockets, dedicated bike lanes, and ADA-accessible sidewalks with planter strips.
The comprehensive improvements included the installation of storm drain lines and inlets, new water mains and services, upgraded sewer mains and laterals, modern traffic signal poles, energy-efficient streetlights, conduit runs, pull boxes, and detector loops. Additionally, the project featured the implementation of irrigation systems and landscaping, construction of a concrete block wall, and the application of hot mix asphalt (HMA) paving and precise traffic striping.
This endeavor not only alleviated a significant traffic bottleneck but also enhanced east-west mobility for both goods and residents, improved emergency response times, and provided safer routes for pedestrians and cyclists. The project exemplifies Yuba City's commitment to sustainable urban development and the creation of a more connected community.
